Admission Requirements
To qualify for the MVP Yoga Therapy Program, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Hold a 200-hour yoga certification in Hatha or Vinyasa styles.
- Have at least one year of yoga teaching experience* and personal practice*.
NOTE: Teaching and personal practice experience can overlap. |
Enrollment Options
There are two main pathways depending on your certification level:
200-Hour Certified Yoga Teachers
You will begin with Module 1, which includes your 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)* and M1 lecture course. After completing this, you’ll move into Mentorship and advanced modules.
*300 YTT is Yoga Alliance accredited
500-Hour Certified Yoga Teachers
As a transfer student, you’ll start with a prerequisite Yoga Therapy course (provided at no extra cost) before moving into Mentorship.

Program Breakdown
Below, you will find a full breakdown of the Yoga Therapy program.
Module 1: Building a Strong Foundation
In the first module, you will be working on your 300-hour YTT while also completing the M1 lecture course with a more in-depth view of these topics from a Yoga Therapy lens:
- Subtle bodies
- Trauma-informed yoga
- Pranayama for anxiety
- Yoga applications for mental health
Live sessions are held once a month, with flexible makeup options for missed classes.
Pre-requisites Course
All individuals who enter the program as a 500-hour Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT) or Register Yoga Teacher (RYT), including individuals who completed their certifications with MVP, will be required to complete this course.
Mentorship: Personalized Guidance
After completing Module 1, you’ll enter the Mentorship phase, where you'll participate in 15 live cohort meetings, totaling 30 hours, along with 33 hours of one-on-one mentorship. These sessions provide personalized feedback and help you integrate your learning into real-world practice.
Module 2: Advanced Therapeutic Tools
Module 2 dives deeper into therapeutic yoga applications, covering topics such as:
- Yoga for memory loss
- Sound healing
- Pre- and post-operative interventions
You’ll also complete six individual Yoga Therapy sessions with an MVP Certified Yoga Therapist, gaining invaluable client interaction experience.
Module 3: Clinical Experience
In the final module, you’ll become an intern in the MVP Online Student Yoga Therapy Clinic, where you’ll provide yoga therapy to MVP students and clients. This hands-on experience will sharpen your skills in individual and group therapy settings.
Required Support and Facilitation Hours
As a Yoga Therapy student, you’ll gain essential support and hands-on experience through:

One-on-One Support Meetings (33 Hours): Connect with your cohort Mentor or MVP Yoga Therapy Team member for personalized guidance.

Group Facilitation (100 Hours): Lead group sessions under supervision, with feedback from trainers and peers to enhance your learning.

Weekly Office Hours: Join three 60-minute sessions weekly with MVP C-IAYT Yoga Therapists for additional support and guidance.
These components provide the structured support and experience needed for your growth as a Yoga Therapist through out your Module 2 and 3 coursework.
Yoga Therapy Retreat
A highlight of the program is the Yoga Therapy Retreat held near Austin, Texas. This retreat is a chance to immerse yourself in practical applications of yoga therapy principles and is required for graduation. Your tuition covers the cost of the retreat, but travel expenses are separate.

Certification and Beyond
